Punjab is full of people from different socio-cultural categories. The people of Punjab are known as Punjabis. Belonging to South Asia, they are the people of Indo-Aryan origin. Numerous settlers like the Indo-Aryans, Persians, Synthians, Greeks, Arabs, Afghans and the British have invaded and ruled the region, giving it a unique culture. Punjabis constitute about 3% of the total population of the country. As per 2001 census, population of the state was 2.44 crores. Let us explore the people and lifestyle of Punjab in detail.

The census of 2001 shows that the population of Rajasthan is 56.5 million. The people of Rajasthan are divided into various castes and sub-castes. A significant section of Rajasthan belongs to the Rajputs. They were once the rulers of the princely state of Rajasthan. Even today the songs their bravery and chivalry are sung across Rajasthan. It is also comprised of various tribes which are indigenous to the land of Rajasthan. One of the most famous communities of Rajasthan are the Marwaris who are some of the most renowned traders in this region.

The inhabitants of Kashmir are said to be the direct descendants of the Aryans. As Buddhism spread here, people from all the surrounding regions came here for scholarly pursuits. The land of Jammu & Kashmir are diverse as they comprise of Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus etc. Many civilizations have influenced the culture of Kashmiris and Ladakhis to a great extent. J&K is a blend of people belonging to variegated races with differing looks, dresses, food habits, customs, traditions, rituals, etc. What unites them is the loveability, verve and enthusiasm with which they receive outsiders in their space.

The multi-cultured and multi-linguistic Delhi attracts a large number of tourists not just from India but abroad as well. Delhi is the capital city of the country and is the destination of many of those who dream big and want to get ingrained in the life of a metro. The influence of the various dynasties which have passed through from here has left a mark. Delhi-ites are a blend of modern and traditional but inclusive of all the new customs. The newness of the world is welcomed but there are strong roots set in tradition which the Delhites highly valur. The composition of Delhi made up of varied caste, creed, and beliefs shows the "Unity in Diversity" which is the microcosmic glimpse of all of India.

The states of Northern India are some of the most essential elements which represent India as a whole. The heritage, culture and traditions preserved and built through the ages are what the backbone of the People of the North become.
